Cutaneous larva migrans is a condition that occurs when dog or cat hookworm larvae migrate through the skin. The migration produces a raised, red, twisting (serpiginous) pattern on the skin. Hookworm larvae that have migrated through the skin have caused the reddish serpiginous (snake-like) pattern on the left side of this individual's back.

Cutaneous larva migrans caused by the larvae of animal hookworms is the most frequent skin disease among travelers returning from tropical countries. Complications (impetigo and allergic reactions), together with the intense pruritus and the significant duration of the disease, make treatment mandatory. Ocular larva migrans causes a granuloma to form in the retina causing visual impairment. Toxocara is an ascarid parasite of cats and dogs. The presence of its larvae in the human body induces the disease called larva migrans. When it involves different organs, the disease is more specifically called visceral larva migrans (VLM). If the disease The disease in humans is known as visceral larva migrans, or if in the eye, ocular larva migrans.

In most patients with CLM, the signs and symptoms resolve without medical treatment. However, treatment may help control symptoms and help prevent secondary bacterial infections. This condition is caused by skin-penetrating larvae of nematodes, mainly of the hookworm Ancylostoma braziliense and other nematodes of the family Ancylostomidae. We report three cases of CLM acquired during vacations in different regions of Brazil. Cutaneous larva migrans (CLM) was first described as "the creeping eruption" and diagnosed by a physician in 1874. Today, it is one of the most common helminth (hookworm) infections acquired from subtropical and tropical regions of the world.

There are two major forms of toxocariasis, visceral toxocariasis (VT), also called visceral larva migrans (VLM), and ocular toxocariasis (OT), also called ocular larva migrans (OLM). The syndromes VLM and OLM can be caused by infection with the migrating larvae of other kinds of parasites which cause symptoms similar to those caused by migrating Toxocara larvae.

The result is a red, raised, tunnel on the surface of the skin. Severe itching is common. Beaches and other moist sandy areas are common locations for infection. Cutaneous larva migrans is a skin disease in humans, caused by the larvae of various nematode parasites of the hookworm family. These parasites live in the intestines of dogs, cats, and wild animals and should not be confused with other members of the hookworm family for which humans are definitive hosts, namely Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus.

Baylisascaris procyonis, the common raccoon roundworm, is the most commonly recognized cause of clinical larva migrans (LM) in animals, a condition in which an immature parasitic worm or larva migrates in a host animal’s tissues, causing obvious disease. Infection with B. procyonis is best known as a cause of fatal or severe neurologic disease that results when the larvae invade the brain

In fact, some worm eggs or larvae can be dormant in the dog's body and Roundworm eggs, if ingested, can cause a disease called “visceral larval migrans”.
